Editorial Policy

People use ramadanclock.com to plan fasting, travel and time off, so getting dates right matters. This page explains how we create, check and update our content.

Written for each country

Our pages in Arabic, Persian, Indonesian, Turkish and Bengali are written separately for readers in those countries, not translated from English. Each page follows the local authority, local holidays and local terms, such as sidang isbat in Indonesia, Diyanet in Turkey or the National Moon Sighting Committee in Bangladesh.

How we check facts

  • Every date is checked against an official calendar or announcement, or against reports from established national news outlets that cite one.
  • Each page lists the sources it uses at the end of the article.
  • Dates that are not yet official are clearly labelled as expected or estimated.
  • Fasting times are calculated with published astronomical formulas and labelled as estimates.

How we update pages

We review our pages when an authority announces new dates, when holiday lists are published and again on the night the crescent moon is sought. Each update is recorded in our Corrections and Updates Log with the date of the change.

Corrections

If you find an error, please contact us. We check every report, correct confirmed errors and note the correction in the log.

Independence

ramadanclock.com is an independent website and is not affiliated with any government, religious authority or mosque. We do not take sides in differences of opinion about moon sighting; we report what each authority decides.
