Ramadan 2027 Dates
| What | Saudi Arabia, Gulf, US, UK | Pakistan, India, Bangladesh |
|---|---|---|
| First night (first taraweeh) | Sun, Feb 7 | Mon, Feb 8 |
| First day of fasting | Mon, Feb 8 | Tue, Feb 9 |
| Last 10 nights begin | Sat evening, Feb 27 | Sun evening, Feb 28 |
| 27th night | Fri evening, Mar 5 | Sat evening, Mar 6 |
| Last day of fasting | Mon, Mar 8 | Tue, Mar 9 |
| Eid al-Fitr | Tue, Mar 9 | Wed, Mar 10 |
The first column follows Saudi Arabia’s Umm al-Qura calendar and the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA), which both expect Ramadan 1448 to last 29 days. The second column is one day later, the usual pattern in South Asia.
When Does Ramadan 2027 Start and End?
Ramadan 2027 starts on the evening of Sunday, February 7. Islamic days begin at sunset, so the first taraweeh prayer is that Sunday night, and the first suhoor (sehri) is before dawn on Monday, February 8.
The end is confirmed on the evening of the 29th fast. If the new moon is seen that night, Eid al-Fitr is the next day. If it isn’t, Muslims fast a 30th day and Eid moves one day later. For most countries that means Eid on Tuesday, March 9, or Wednesday, March 10.
Planning leave for Eid? Book the expected date and keep the next day free too. The final answer usually comes the night before.
Ramadan 2027 Dates by Country
| Country | Who announces the date | First fast | Eid al-Fitr |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar | National moon-sighting authorities | Mon, Feb 8 | Tue, Mar 9 |
| United States, Canada | FCNA, or your local mosque | Mon, Feb 8 | Tue, Mar 9 |
| United Kingdom | Local mosques and councils | Mon, Feb 8 | Tue, Mar 9 |
| Australia | National and local Islamic councils | Mon, Feb 8 | Tue, Mar 9 |
| Pakistan | Ruet-e-Hilal Committee | Tue, Feb 9 | Wed, Mar 10 |
| India | Local Hilal committees | Tue, Feb 9 | Wed, Mar 10 |
| Bangladesh | National Moon Sighting Committee | Tue, Feb 9 | Wed, Mar 10 |
Why is South Asia usually a day later? The sun sets there a few hours before it sets in Makkah, so the new moon is younger and harder to see. Pakistan, India and Bangladesh only accept a local sighting, so they often see it one evening later.
Dates can also differ inside one country. In the UK, US and Canada, some mosques follow calculated dates, some follow Saudi Arabia, and many South Asian communities follow their home country’s practice. Your local mosque’s announcement is the one that counts for you.
How Many Days Until Ramadan?
The countdown at the top of this page shows exactly how long is left until Ramadan, in months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds. It runs on your own time zone, so it’s right whether you’re in New York, London, Karachi or Delhi.
Following Pakistan, India or Bangladesh? Tap that button and the countdown moves to February 9. Once Ramadan begins, it shows what day of Ramadan it is, such as “Day 12 of 29,” and how many days of Ramadan are left until Eid.
How Long Is Ramadan?
Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days, one full month of the lunar calendar. Each fast runs from dawn to sunset, so how long you fast depends on where you live and the time of year.
A February Ramadan brings short, cool days in most of the Northern Hemisphere. Australia is the exception. It’s summer there, so the first fasts are the longest of the month.
| City | First fast | Last fast |
|---|---|---|
| Karachi | about 12 h 30 m | about 13 h 05 m |
| Lahore | about 12 h 15 m | about 13 h 05 m |
| Delhi | about 12 h 25 m | about 13 h 05 m |
| Dhaka | about 12 h 30 m | about 13 h 05 m |
| New York | about 11 h 40 m | about 12 h 50 m |
| Toronto | about 11 h 35 m | about 12 h 50 m |
| London | about 11 h 30 m | about 13 h 15 m |
| Sydney | about 15 h 05 m | about 14 h 00 m |
Our estimates from dawn (Fajr) to sunset, shown to the nearest 5 minutes. Karachi, Lahore, Delhi and Dhaka use February 9 to March 9 and a Fajr angle of 18 degrees. New York and Toronto use February 8 to March 8 and 15 degrees (ISNA). London and Sydney use February 8 to March 8 and 18 degrees. Your local timetable may differ by a few minutes.
One more thing makes this year easier. No country on this list changes its clocks during Ramadan 2027. The US and Canada switch on March 14, the UK on March 28 and Australia on April 4, and Pakistan, India and Bangladesh don’t use daylight saving time at all.
Ramadan 2027 Suhoor and Iftar Times
Suhoor and iftar change every day and depend on your city and the Fajr angle your mosque follows. On the first day of fasting, Monday, February 8, suhoor in New York ends at 5:38 AM and iftar is at 5:25 PM. In London, suhoor ends at 5:31 AM and iftar is at 5:05 PM.
For every day of the month, open the timetable for your area: the United States and Canada, the United Kingdom, or any city worldwide. Each page detects your time zone and lets you search another city or use your location.
Why Ramadan Dates Can Differ by a Day
Ramadan begins when the new crescent moon appears after sunset. Some authorities calculate that moment in advance. Others wait until someone actually sees the moon, and clouds or haze can delay a sighting by a day.
That’s exactly what happened in 2026. Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar began on February 18, while Türkiye, Malaysia and Indonesia began on February 19. Expect a similar split in 2027.

When does Ramadan 2027 start in the USA?
Ramadan 2027 is expected to start in the United States on Monday, February 8, with the first taraweeh on Sunday night, February 7. Is Ramadan a public holiday?
Ramadan itself is not a public holiday in most countries, but Eid al-Fitr often is. Pakistan and Bangladesh give several days off for Eid, and India has a national holiday for it. In the US and UK, Eid is not a federal or bank holiday, though some US school districts list it as a day off.
